President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has declared himself a constitutionalist, emphasizing that he will not pursue a third term in office.
While addressing the media in China recently, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa revealed that he is aware of his last day in office.
“I said that I am a constitutionalist, which means I abide to the rules and constitution. Also I am one of the people who drafted it.
“when my term expires, others will come. So this question of third term does not arise especially under my watch.
“l am in my second term and I already know my last working day I will leave office and create room for others. If they are other people who think otherwise tell them that the President is not ambitious for a third term in office,” said the President.
Zimbabwe is set to hold harmonized elections in 2028, paving the way for a unified electoral process across its various political offices.
The President is currently visiting China, where he has engaged with several prominent Chinese companies and is scheduled to meet with President Xi Jinping today.
