His Excellency Cde Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday hailed the people of Chikomba for coming in their numbers at Makumavi Primary School yesterday where he officially commissioned the school together with 16 other schools across the country.
The venue was filled up to the beam as the people of Chikomba heeded the call by its leadership to come and show solidarity with the President who appointed Cabinet posts to both the two MPs from Chikomba.
Indeed, the people responded, and the President recognized and appreciated.
“I would like to thank you the people of Chikomba for coming in large numbers here. I am very happy to see you here.
“I am very happy to see that you have come to see your President, I thank you indeed,” the President remarked.
The Chikomba DCC Chairman Cde Vernon Muringani was also delighted .
“We have worked as a team with other members of the DCC to ensure people come to meet the President and thank him for championing development not only at Makumavi or Chikomba but across the country.
“We also are a happy people because the President appointed our two MPs Hon Mhona and Hon Mavetera to ministerial positions and these two are doing well.
“They are heeding the President’s call of hardworking and servant leadership.
“We also want to thank the Mashonaland East Provincial Chairman, Cde Daniel Garwe and his entire leadership for making this event a success.
“Once again, I appreciate both Hon Mhona and Hon Mavetera for working together day and night co-ordinating towards the successful hosting of the President here, I am grateful,” he said.
The program saw President Mnangagwa donating to Chikomba District 100 laptops to be distributed 5 each amongst 20 schools in the district.
Much to the delight of many, especially from Chikomba East they danced to the song by Vhayeya.com‘s Lovemore Masunungure Shumba Ine Nhorondo belted by renowned master of ceremony DJ Masomere for the first time at a national gathering.
The President introduced Ministers and Deputy Ministers during his address.
Hon Mhona and Mavetera received a hero’s welcome upon being introduced to the people much to the delight of the President who was left in no doubt that the two were darlings to the Chikomba community.
Chief Musarurwa donated a 1.5 tonne crocodile sculpture that is about 10 metres long to the President icing a great day for the people of Chikomba that was well spent with the People’s President, Cde Dr E.D Mnangagwa.
Chikomba District now boasts of a state of the art Smart School Makumimavi Primary.
The school feature an administration block, ablution facilities, Early Childhood Development block, classrooms, computer laboratory, library and teachers’ houses.
Makumimavi Primary was the first OFID Education Project Construction of the 17 schools.
During the construction of the school local community members were contracted by Nengo Construction Company to provide general labour and the process created employment for local communities.
As the whirlwind danced around the sacred grounds of Makumimavi Primary during the commissioning ceremony, it was seen as a powerful sign that the elders had welcomed the people with open arms, embracing them into the heart of their sacred land.
