Cdes Kelvin Mutimbanyoka and George Mashavave will be representing the party in the Harare East and Mt. Pleasant constituencies respectively, after winning the Zanu PF primary elections today.
The Zanu PF National Political Commissar, Cde Mike Bimha, confirmed the results of the primary elections at a press conference held today at the party headquarters.
“Primary elections were conducted peacefully and credibly in both constituencies,” said Cde Bimha, before announcing the final winners.
As a result of the resignations of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) MPs Rusty Markham and Fadzai Mahere, primary elections were held to select Zanu PF candidates for the upcoming elections in the Harare East and Mt. Pleasant constituencies.
The resignations of the two MPs came after their party leader, Nelson Chamisa, had stepped down from his position.
Meanwhile, Cde Bimha has said the party restructuring had not yet started.
“No organ of the party has been given authority for restructuring yet. Provinces should await for a circular from the commissariate. Our focus is on Cells and villages restructuring.
“Any forthcoming internal elections will utilise an authentic and verified voters roll based on the cells registers,” he remarked.
