POKOTEKE CHIKOMBA – People living with disabilities in Chikomba East experienced jubilation on the 11th and 12th of July following the donation of mealie meal by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Honourable Tapiwa Felix Mhona, who also serves as the MP of the constituency.
Various individuals living with disabilities in the wards benefited from this gesture, marking a moment of relief for them, especially considering the impact of the El Nino drought this year, which has resulted in widespread hunger and starvation across many parts of the country.
In a statement, Mr Lovemore Masunungure, the Chikomba East Constituency Coordinator, expressed that Honourable Felix Tapiwa Mhona consistently endeavors to support the community through various means.
“The MP has always been trying by all means not to leave anyone in his initiatives. You may need to know that he supported the disabled with chicks and feed in 2021 and the projects are still going on especially in ward 14 Duvhurwi.
He is concerned with the welfare of everyone in the constituency hence he has donated mealie meal to people living with disabilities who are the most disadvantaged and marginalized in hard times,” said Masunungure.
An anonymous beneficiary in Chikomba Ward 27 expressed gratitude to Honorable Mhona for his generosity and unwavering support.
“I thank Honourable Mhona for his kind gesture towards us as he showed that he is a man of his words. He promised at his thank you rally at Mudawarima that no one will die of hunger and he has fulfilled his promise by giving us mealie meal today,” she said.
Levy Kuvawoga, a representative of people living with disabilities in ward 15, expressed that Honorable Mhona’s actions exemplify the spirit of community and service that they all aspire to.
“His actions exemplify the spirit of community and service that we all aspire to. It is through such acts of kindness that we build a more inclusive and caring society.
“On behalf of all the beneficiaries, I extend my deepest thanks and appreciation on his unwavering support,” he said.
