Honourable Felix Tapiwa Mhona, Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development and Member of Parliament for Chikomba East, has assured the community that in 2025, he will continue to implement development programs aimed at empowering the community, aligning with the objectives of the National Strategic Development 1 (NDS1) and the general Zanu-PF Party development agenda.
Cde Lovemore Masunungure, the Co-ordinator for Chikomba East Constituency, spoke to vhayeya.com, providing valuable insights into the plans and initiatives set for 2025.
“Hon Mhona has assured the Chikomba East Community that he is going on with several programs this year. With Hon Mhona’s leadership, we are committed to implementing sustainable programs that will benefit all residents of Chikomba East.
“The community can expect a range of initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and local services in the coming months,” he said.
Cde Lovemore Masunungure highlighted that the office of the MP would work in tandem with the Government’s agenda to achieve an Upper Middle Income Economy status by 2030.
“Honourable Mhona is going to continue to support the youths. He is also going to continue supporting Mikando for women in the constituency,” Masunungure said, adding that as the MP Hon Mhona was indeed impressed by the Mikando program, noting that most women managed to buy household goods, kitchen utensils, and others shared money among themselves.
He emphasized that these initiatives help improve the lives of families, especially during times when they were facing challenges due to the El Niño-induced drought.
Furthermore, Masunungure added that Honourable Mhona is going to continue sourcing resources for the support of the people of Chikomba East.
Masunungure stated that last year, Honourable Mhona supported broiler projects by providing chicks and feed to several families within the constituency.
Bisecting the 2025 trajectory, the Constituency Co-ordinator announced that the annual Chikomba East Marathon and Wellness Day is slated to take place during the first quarter of the year.
“The annual Chikomba East Marathon and Wellness Day is going to be held probably in April in Madamombe, Ward 15. This event is important for the community because it’s a platform to showcase talent and at the same time fight drug and substance abuse among the youths.
“The annual Chikomba East Marathon and Wellness Day not only promotes community engagement, but also contributes significantly to the physical and mental well-being of participants, encouraging a healthy lifestyle,” Masunungure said.
Building on the success of last year’s event held in Masasa, the Constituency Co-ordinator announced that this year’s Chikomba East Marathon and Wellness Day will be held in a new location, in line with the Government’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind.
Masunungure revealed that Honorable Felix Tapiwa Mhona has confirmed that the annual Felix Tapiwa Mhona Tournament will indeed take place this year, maintaining its traditional schedule.
According to Masunungure the Minister hinted at introducing Felix Tapiwa Mhona Soccer and Netball tournaments in Primary and Secondary Schools, a strategic move aimed at nurturing young talent and fostering a culture of sportsmanship among students.
The Minister will also attend the finals and according to Masunungure he has a vision of creating an academy in Chikomba East Constituency.
The bicycle program for village heads is continuing, and the Minister has pledged to ensure that every village head receives a bicycle, enhancing their mobility and ability to effectively serve their communities.
In conclusion, Constituency Co-ordinator Cde Lovemore emphasized that Honorable Felix Tapiwa Mhona, as usual will collaborate closely with councillors and the Zanu-PF party leadership to achieve his objectives.
