Dynamos FC has officially appointed Lloyd Chigowe as their substantive head coach ahead of the 2025 season.
Chigowe affectionately known as ‘Mablanyo’ has been the interim head coach since 05 August 2024.
The club announced in a statement that the 60-year-old Chigove was in charge of the Glamour Boys for 20 games in all competitions, leading the team to finish on a high note.
“During that period, the team won 10, drew 5 and lost 5 to give Chigowe a 50 percent win ratio. But more importantly, the Glamour Boys were able to defend the Chibuku Super Cup title by beating Ngezi Platinum Stars in a thrilling final at Rufaro Stadium.
“With the preseason of the 2025 campaign kicking in last week, Chigowe has set his sights on assembling a strong squad that will battle on three fronts, said the club statement.
The statement further announced that the Glamour Boys under the tutelage of Mablanyo will be looking forward to mount a serious title challenge in the 2025 Castle Lager Premiership and try to defend the Chibuku Super Cup for a record extending third time.
Dynamos will also feature in the CAF Confederation Cup starting August, a competition they were booted out in the group stages last year.
In his acceptance speech, Lloyd Chigowe expressed his readiness to revive the blue and white giants.
“I have always been a broom and I’m ready to serve this great club with distinction despite the adversity of loosing a number of key players.
“We are working on rebuilding a formidable side that can still represent the club badge and continue the legacy of previous successful Dynamos sides,” said Chigowe.
Dynamos FC Executive Chairperson Moses Maunganidze said the Club is fully behind Chigowe and believes he has the capacity to build a strong team that will challenge on three fronts in the upcoming season.
“We do not doubt the confidence and trust reposted on Chigowe on Lloyd Chigowe will come to fruition. We trust his instincts and capacity and as such, we will fully support him,” Maunganidze said.
Chigowe is now working on his backroom staff and the club said that it will make a further announcement when all the necessary formalities have been completed.
Joel Lupahla who was Mablanyo’s assistant coach joined Shamva based Simba Bhora as Head Coach.
Dynamos announced the acquisition of Leeroy Mavhunga and Farai Mutatu who is coming from LA Galaxy, joining the Glamour Boys on a 2 year contract.
Meanwhile, Dynamos FC bitter rivals Caps United acquired the services of Warriors International, Tendai Benyu.
Premier Soccer League giants, Dynamos, Highlanders and Caps United are yet to make major signings to bolster their squads ahead of the 2025 season.
Lloyd Chigowe as Substantive Head Coach has a huge task as the purported 7 million supporters expect results.
