Chikomba East MP Honourable Mhona’s Constituency Co-ordinator Lovemore Masunungure has praised all stakeholders who participated in the tournament held at Chimowa in Ward 27 on Friday.
Co-ordinator Masunungure described the tournament as highly successful.
An estimated 3000 spectators thronged Chimowa Primary and Secondary schools as 4 Netball teams, 4 Soccer teams and 4 Queen teams including Duvhurwi, Nharira ,Manyanga, Mpatsi, Zvamatohwe, Gokomere and many more participated for the honours with each team getting prizes.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Honourable F. T. Mhona Tournament, Coordinator Masunungure hailed the event’s success, describing it as “impressive.”
”I was very impressed and happy by the success of this impressive tournament.
”I want to thank Honourable Mhona for his leadership. We have seen a very successful tournament taking place,” Coordinator Masunungure added.
”We had 12 teams and all of them as you can see went home with impressive prizes, we also want to thank Hon Mhona for ensuring that all the teams had Sports Kits, Gears, T-shirts to carry home besides the medals that they got and the prize money
”I now also want to call upon all our 22 districts in Chikomba East Constituency to prepare for the next tournament,” said Coordinator Masunungure.
Several key stakeholders including Chikomba East ZANU PF party structures, traditional leaders, ZINARA, TSCZ, ACZ, NHS, CAAZ and many more were also present.
Coordinator Masunungure expressed his gratitude to Stakeholders for their present.
”I want to thank the Party leadership in Ward 27 including host Councillor Cde Lawrence Watambwa as well as all the party leadership in the district and constituency and especially our DCC Chairman Cde Venon Muringani and his entire party structures and councillors led by Chairman Cde Israel Dhikinya.
”Traditional leaders were also there and we are very happy that they came to support the initiative as well as fight drug abuse, as we go forward within next year it is going to be a better tournament.
”I also want to assure all the players that with Honourable Mhona’s endulgance and support we are going to be very strict to those who are going to participate.
“We require that all participating teams use players from Chikomba East, and this will be ensured by requiring them to prove that they are voters in Chikomba East.
”We are going to require Proof of Voter Registration in Chikomba East and no player is going to cross from one ward to the other as we register the players for the 2025 tournament.
“To achieve this we are going to work with our team led by Mr Mutengwa as well as our party leaderahip and councillors.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank our executive as well as the officials for a job well done.
“The list is endless, heads at Chimowa Primary and Secondary schools as well as their teams coordinators etc ,well am thankful to you all, may God bless you,” he remarked
“I hope the teams that received prizes will use that money wisely, so they can look back and say, ‘In 2024, we had this, and now look at this growth we have achieved,” added Masunungure.
The Honourable Mhona Tournament concluded with prizes for Men’s soccer as Duvhurwi scooped first place with $1500 prize money, seconded by $1000 prize money for Manyanga.
In Queen’s Soccer Manyanga received $1500 seconded by Nharira as Zvamatohwe scooped $800 prize money in netball.
Goalkeeper Godfrey Chifamba was named best player of the tournament in Men’s soccer and he walked away with $100 prize money following scintillating perfomances for Duvhurwi.
Village heads also received 30 bicycles.
