Cde Lizzy Chidau, Secretary for Women’s Affairs in Chikomba DCC, has confirmed that the Chikomba District International Women’s Day celebrations have been rescheduled for April 27 2024.
In a statement, Cde Chidau explained that the International Women’s Day celebrations had to be rescheduled to April 27 due to some of the guests’ prior commitments on the initial proposed date of April 13.
“The Chikomba District International Women’s Day celebrations will now take place on April 27 instead of the originally planned date of April 13.
“We had to move the date to April 27 in order to accommodate the schedules of some of our guests,” said Cde Chidau.
International Women’s Day is celebrated to recognize the achievements of women in various fields, and to acknowledge the progress made towards gender equality.
The day also serves as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to ensure that women have equal rights and opportunities.
Many countries and organizations use this day to hold events and activities that promote women’s rights and celebrate their contributions to society.
Meanwhile, a program to train women in Chikomba East in poultry project management was held in ward 25 yesterday, with Cde Chidau in attendance.
In line with Honourable Minister Felix Tapiwa Mhona’s support for women’s poultry projects in the constituency, training programs have been accelerated.
In support of the government and President Mnangagwa’s goal of achieving an upper middle economy by 2030, Honourable Minister Felix Tapiwa Mhona has since January donated over 9,000 chicks with feed to maturity.
