Residents marvel as Hon Mhona announces resumption of Airport Road project.
Harare residents are excited that work on the Airport Road is set to resume.
The announcement which was made this afternoon by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructurural Development Hon Felix Tapiwa Mhona when he opened a section of the missing link at Houghton Park.
“”We have this other road, the Airport Road, we are saying from Emerson Mnangagwa (formerly Enterprise rd) the road will be done over rail up to Braeside, it will also be done early next year.
” We also have other emotional roads like Bulawayo-Nkayi Road as well as others like Chipinge – Mt Selinda road which we have already started to work on,” said Hon Mhona .
Residents who spoke to Vhayeya.com said the Airport Road after completion will not only beautify the important highway to and from the rest of the world but help decongest Seke road which is notorious for being busy and heavy with traffic up to mid-morning.
” This is good news indeed we want to thank the President for remembering this project. We are so sure that this will decongest Seke road, and we pray that Delport road will also be rehabilitated, and motorists will branch off from there via Airport into town easing pressure on Seke road” said Denford Mandivenga a Chitungwiza resident.
Another Hatfield resident Givemore Khumba said the completion of the Airport Road fly over would add beauty to the city.
” This is the gateway to the world and an entrance to Zimbabwe by the world so the construction of this fly over and hence the completion of Airport Road will save as a notification to the rest of the world about the beauty of our motherland Zimbabwe” he remarked.
The government is accelerating road infrastructure development across the country in line with the President Cde Dr Emerson Mnangagwa’s vision of taking Zimbabwe to an upper middle economy status come 2030.
