Road users who travelled from their respective homes for the ZCC Kudzaka Gomo conference being held at Mbungo Estates in Bikita have appraised the state of roads and infrastructure development spearheaded by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development under President Mnangagwa’s Road rehabilitation program.
Thousands Church members travelled with an estimated number of over 150 buses, ominibuses and several motor vehicles from different routes around the country for the Zion Christian Church Mbungo Kudzaka Gomo Conference which started on Sunday 27th October.
Passengers and Drivers who travelled through ongoing- finished road projects, dual carriages and newly opened bridges appraised the quality of road standards being implemented under Hon F.T. Mhona’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development.
Tawanda Chitsaga, a hired bus driver who travelled from Bulawayo with church members described the massive road infrastructural development being done throughout the country as a ‘solution to road problems’.
”The works are there, we can travel without complaints.
”Its a solution to our roads”
”Problems can otherwise be motorists who do not obey road safety rules and regulations but for us we are happy, our roads are now a solution” he said.
Ephraim Nyangoni, a Bus Driver who travelled from Harare said, ”We used (for the conference) Harare-Masvingo road because it has been resurfaced.
”For conferences like these, it eases and reduces accidents caused by poor roads”.
”We thank the Governement for making projects like these a success,” Nyangoni said
Motorists who also travelled with private vehicles commented.
”There is nothing to complain. Its a job well done. Good roads, new projects along the way.
”Its time for us to also have airports and other transportation throughout the country”
Zion Christian Church’s Kudzaka Gomo conference is attended by ZCC church members, new members, Traditional Headmans, Chiefs and invited guests including government officials who gathers at Mbungo Estates in Bikita to pray for festive rains, blessings and other prayer requests.
It follows April’s Easter Conference at the same venue, Defe Conference which traditionally is held in August at Gokwe.
Founded by the late Rev Samuel Mutendi, father to the current Bishop, His Grace Dr. N. S. Mutendi, Zion Christian Church is not new to infrastructural development.
It has contributed to the building of many schools around the country including Mutendi High School, Hebron High School and Samuel Centinary Academy.
