The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Honourable Mhona yesterday opened to traffic 3.8 km dualised section from Mbudzi interchange to CBD along Simon Mazorodze road.
Minister Mhona said the ongoing road rehabilitation and construction program will spread throughout the country mirroring President Mnangangwa’s vision of living no place and no one behind.
”We are not only focusing on Harare roads, we are also coming to our rural roads”
”We are also gravitating towards the mini interchange along our major intersections” said Minister Mhona
Ministry of transport and Infrastructural Development Permanent Secretary Engineer J.P Makumbe also highlighted the Ministry’s concern towards easing traffic jam which is a concern for traffic along Simon Mazorodze road.
She added that Jersey Barriers (Concrete or plastic used for median separation) were going to be put in place in order to avoid reckless drivers who interchange lanes creating congestion.
The Government has been working on massive road rehabilitation and construction program which has seen local construction companies revamping and constructing top quality roads throughout the country.
Last week, two roads that were recently constructed in Dzivarasekwa and Warren Park were reopened to traffic.
Meanwhile, 11th Avenue that links Kirkman now Solomon Mujuru Drive to Bulawayo in Westlea also opened to traffic yesterday.
