Member of Parliament for Chikomba East Constituency Honourable Felix Mhona held a Thank You rally in Duvhurwi, Chikomba East, yesterday, during which he announced the empowerment of women through poultry projects.
In his address, Hon Mhona thanked the Duvhurwi community for supporting him and Zanu-PF in the August 2023 elections.
“I am proud that the Chikomba East constituency gave strong support to the ruling party in the August elections.
“I am Minister today because of the votes I received from the people of Chikomba East,” said Hon Mhona.
Hon Mhona revealed that the opposition controlled many councils in Chikomba East when he first started his political journey in Chikomba.
“When we first came to contest, there were 8 opposition councilors and 2 ZANU-PF councillors. But since 2013 ZANU-PF has managed to retain all the seats upto date.
“l hereby stand here representing the ruling party, the councilors and we thank you for trusting Zanu-PF to lead”, he said.
Hon Mhona emphasized the need for people to support the government and not give in to the temptation to betray their values.
“It is important for people to vote for a party that brings results other than sellouts who do not bring development in our areas,” said Hon Mhona.
Hon Mhona thanked the people of Duvhurwi for their strong support, as evidenced by their attendance at the Thank You Rally.
“Your overwhelming support has made it possible for me to serve three consecutive terms as your MP,” said Hon Mhona.
Hon Mhona expressed his gratitude to President Mnangagwa for giving him the opportunity to serve the country.
“I am deeply grateful to President, Dr E. D Mnangagwa for the honour of being appointed Minister.
“Our work as MPs and Ministers reflects on the President, so we must align our efforts with his vision,” Hon Mhona stated.
Hon Mhona recognized the hard work and commitment of Mr Masunungure, his Co-ordinator in Chikomba, in serving the people.
“Cde Masunungure has worked tirelessly to build projects for the people of Chikomba East, and I encourage you to turn to him with your concerns so that I can respond quickly and effectively,” said Hon Mhona.
In light of the Elnino drought affecting Chikomba, Hon Mhona pledged to provide assistance.
“The President has declared a national disaster due to the El Niño-induced drought, and we are committed to providing aid to the people of Zimbabwe,” he said.
He added that the second republic is dedicated to implementing projects that will improve the lives of the people, such as building roads, schools, and health facilities.
“Under the vision of His Excellency, every village will have a solar-powered borehole and a community garden, from which other projects will emerge.
“The infrastructural developments at Murambinda Primary School are a great step forward, bringing development to rural areas ahead of the 44th Independence celebrations,” said Hon Mhona.
More than 2,000 chicks and bags of feed were donated to women’s groups in the Duvhurwi cluster.
The project is aimed at empowering families, alleviating poverty, and improving food security in the face of the upcoming El Nino-induced drought.
Chief Chivese, who was present at the event, commended Hon Mhona for continuing to give back to the community even after being elected.
Also present was Chief Kareya, Village Heads, Zanu-PF Provincial members, DCC Chairman Cde Venon Muringani and his Vice Cde Zhakata, Council Chairperson Cde Israel Dhikinya and councillors and other party officials.
